"Abstract art - an imaginative view
of life thru the eyes of creativity."
"Art is only complete when the eye of the beholder experiences
that emotion which empowered you to create, to express, and to share.
Art truly validates our humanity."

"To dream, to embrace that which is real and that which can
only be imagined - this is art."

His home is the open range which
stretches beyond the horizon,
His gaze ever alert to the
changing landscape,
As the seasons transform his
abode like a welcomed friend.
Leather and a crackling campfire
Are the luxuries of his world,
His needs are few, his wants
even fewer.
He lives off the land and
honors it's fruits,
Taking only what is required
Because the land is a living
thing that belongs to no man.

Brackenridge Park

It's not about getting to the top
But overcoming obstacles,
Meeting challenges head on.
Learning from my mistakes,
Being humble enough to accept help
If I stumble and fall.
Never giving up & never giving in.
Helping others along the way
Because we are never alone,
Taking one day at a time,
Until the view is all that
I dreamed and hoped it woud be.

the pace of life allowing
time for thoughtful

"If words are the vehicle that
transverse the roadways of the
the human mind and intellect -
engendering us with the
capacity to express
compassion, knowledge,
and understanding,
Then music and art are
the windows thru which we
peer and the canvas upon
which we paint brilliant
colors with gentle brush strokes
upon the human heart -
validating our humanity and
existence - offering a
prayer of hope."

Into your interior rooms I will run
To find safety and solace.
A place far removed from the present,
Yet ever near to the poor of heart who
Need escape from life's noisy din
Of confusion and frustration.
A haven of renewal and healing by
The gentle sounds of life flowing
Over the tired soul - bringing refreshment,
Peace, and harmony to that which
Is bigger than the sum of all things.

"Life in all its shapes and shades of color isn't always picture perfect - it's just life."

A road less traveled,
A time long ago - beloved and lost,
Like fallen leaves blown by an
October wind,
Fields laid barren - misted by
heaven's frost,
Marked by footprints of old
friends bound by purpose,
When each breath was full
of life and hope.
A pace not rushed, time for
thought and reflection.
Can I find my way back there,
Based on whispers of those
long gone?
Would I be the only one on
this road less traveled?

Tis the sun and the moon in their
intimate glory that dare shine
down upon mortal man.
Celesetial bodies indeed that make their presence manifest by their heavenly magnificence.
Please permit me to bask in your rays least I wither and die like a
floral bouquet.

It is said that if you had legs,
You would run to the ends of the earth.
Your pace is as the fervent heartbeat of a wild stallion,
Yet bridled with the gentleness of a lover's endearments.
Your beauty and serenity brings tears
To the eyes of those that behold your peace and solitude,
Which seems ever beyond mortal man's reach.
poem by PAul AVery
What greater beauty can there be
Than to capture the vibrant splendor
That life portrays for all to see -
In it's various moods and shades of simplicity.
Granting that which is momentary,
To be clothed with the garments of immortality,
Imprinted on the human imagination
For the human heart to drink in and embrace.

a gentle meadow in the Smokey Mts. National Park
In your foothills I will walk with tenderness
As a babe toddles to its mother's loving embrace,
I will soar above your lofty peaks
Like an eagle in eloquent flight.
Into your valleys I will roam in early morn
And listen to your gentle sigh at evening twilight,
I will embrace your vast expanse with gleeful gratitude.
Your snow covered features painted against the sky
Will be my roadmap to the destination that beakons me,
To return to you each day of each season
For which there is no journey's end.

The sentry stands alone & tall,
Protecting all but himself,
Sacrificing all, that life
Might continue for future generations.
Shrouded by silence and purpose,
This friend I have cherished from
A distance with admiration and pride
Since my tender years of innocence.
His presence, a comfort and anchor
For the failures and challenges
As the journey unfolds - my destination unknown,
But his a certainty.
The sentry stands tall and alone,
His presence defines the very meaning of being,
His statue assuring a mood of peace and calm,
A true friend providing under his shadow
A cool breeze that renews and refreshes the soul.
I must depart now - but the sentry stands
noble in time - alone and tall.
How would you have ended the
poem differently?

The Magnolia
* There are around 210 species.
* They are protogynous, which means
that the flowers first open with the
female receptive, then close, and
reopen with the male parts ready
to shed pollen.
* It is the official state flower of both
Mississippi and Louisiana.
